Those book rewrites! I mean, FINALLY. I cried so hard at the end of Where the Red Fern Grows when my third grade teacher read it to our class. I still haven’t really forgiven her for it.

“He wasn’t very good symbolism, but he was a very good boy” is golden. And DeDe, I agree. I’m not sure I’ve ever cried any harder than finishing Where the Red Fern Grows. At least I was on my own and not in class. It was not a pretty cry.

Peeked at the Beach Books list and saw Tolstoy at #5. And look, I love Anna Karenina, it’s an amazing book, but a beach read it is not. Kinsey Millhone, Stephanie Plum, Harry Dresden is who I want to spend time with whilst getting my vitamin D. I save tortured Russian novels for a cold, rainy day.

Oh my goodness, ‘Where the Red Fern Grows’ destroyed me and my young feelings at the time. Loved the rewrite! lol
