Cheap and chic of the week

One of my dogs is a big chewer, and he is very particular about what he chews: sheets, paper, underwear, and—every winter, and infuriatingly—my favorite Steven Alan cashmere beanie, which I have replaced more than once. Every time I get a new one, I try to hide it from him, but he has a preternatural ability to sniff it out and destroy. I can’t afford to keep buying new ones, and now that  I’ve discovered this one from J. Crew, I don’t have to.

Uniqlo has in the past made some nice cashmere beanies that are in the $30’s, I believe, or they have gone on special to be around that price. I buy a few of them and dole out as needed.

I second the Uniqlo recommendation, I always buy a few for gifts when they inevitably drop to 50% off. My nieces (75% of whom have February birthdays) adore me!

What if you bought him his own cashmere chew toy? I don’t really understand the psychology of dogs though. Is part of it that he wants to lovingly mouth something that smells of you?

I think it’s this. My dog has never chewed a shoe in her life, but she goes after my headphones and underwear (ew) mercilessly. I love that animal but I really miss having nice underwear and headphones!

Woke up this morning, reached for my glasses, and found them in my puppy’s crate – chewed to bits. It’s a good thing she’s so cute.
