All I carry anymore are crossbody bags—they’re practical and hands-free, and therefore good for walking the dogs, but I find myself even wearing them on dates, too, because I just like the way they look. This APC bag appeals because the shape is kind of unexpected, and it has canvas straps, which is always a cool touch.
Clare V’s Sac Bretelle is the biggest small bag I’ve ever found, and I like its cousin, the Gosee, too, because it has a roomy exterior pocket.
I am mad for this bag, and I don’t usually like structured top handles like this.
Such a rich, chocolatey brown, and the price is great.
Just a magnificent blue.
Why not something in a bright, poppy yellow?
The geometric woven business here is cool, and blue suede is just the best.
This is all about those canvas straps—such a chic contrast with the leather.
Suddenly, the notion of an army green bag seems nice—it’s kind of a neutral, but an un-boring one—but this one is quite lovely in the burgundy, too.
Baggu’s bucket bag is another that fits more than it might appear to, and it’s a shape that never goes out of style.
The stud detail here keeps things interesting.
A nice, classic saddle bag with minimal hardware, just how I like them.
If you’re looking to make an investment purchase in this category, Mansur Gavriel’s Lady Bag can’t be beat.
And finally, I love a good duffel shape.
Claire V, Steve Alan, Urban Outfitters. Want.
Great selection!

I love cross-body bags and carry them almost exclusively. Here’s my question. Do you wear the bag in the front, the side, or in the back? I keep going back and forth on this….if the bag is in the back or on my hip, the strap cuts between my boobs and I don’t love that. If the bag is in the front I sometimes feel like it’s that “fanny pack worn in the front” look favored by tourists. What do you think?

Anything by Clare V. or Baggu (but very different price points).

I got the APC bag from Net-a-Porter, as it was sold out on Shopbop. Lovely color and shape, but strap is not cross-body length (and I’m only 5’2″). Looking back at the photos, I should have realized that the strap is too short. Let it be known…
