Some new arrivals from Madewell, starting with this quilted jacket, which reminds me a lot of one I just saw for sale at the Nili Lotan store in Easthampton, except it’s much cheaper. Also, the Lotan jacket is black, and I kind of prefer the dull green/brownish hue here.
Many bucket bags are just a touch too small, but this one is just exactly right.
Red and blue stripes are rather poppy and fun.
And here’s a perfectly classic striped shirt that I’d snap up in a heartbeat if I didn’t already have one pretty much exactly like it.
And finally, who doesn’t need a pair of elastic-waist trousers that look so slick?
I have a white and blue version of the red/blue striped shirt and I love it. It lays really nicely, and the fabric is drapey and comfortable. (What the half tuck doesn’t show is that its shorter in the front/longer in the back, and is also quite roomy)

I have several articles of clothing by Madewell and love them. I use their round Marfa bag all the time.
The quilted jacket would be pretty perfect for Austin Fall/Winter with a sweater underneath––or maybe this year just a very thin tank top. Oy and Egad.

At the beginning of the year, I saw a gallery of photos of the Women’s March (I think it was NYC, but it could have been DC or Philadelphia), and this woman’s jacket stood out to me so strongly. I spent an inordinate amount of time tracking it down, and it’s is a quilted jacket from the Duluth Trading Company. Your post reminded me to go back and get it for fall! I just bought it in their Storm Blue color. So pretty!

I’m much more into Madewell than J Crew lately. Things seem more wearable with my lifestyle, and forgiving on my body. A win-win.
