Wardrobe classic: the camel coat

jenna-camel

I love the look of a camel coat. So elegant—borderline preppy, in a good way—and colors and patterns pop off of it so beautifully. Here we have Jenna Lyons doing the fashion person trick  of not putting her arms through the armholes—I’ll never understand the point of this, yet they all do it—but looking pretty fantastic nevertheless.

Here’s a menswearish coat quite like the one Jenna is wearing that I like very much.

Just a super-classic trench, perfect for dressing up or down.

well-priced and dressed-down choice for the weekend.

And just for kicks: this super-sharp blazer (and here’s your cheaper option).

Camel…one of those neutrals I love and can not wear. These are all great choices. I also think camel colored coats (or sweaters) look beautiful on women with white/grey hair.

For the record, I don’t get the no arms in the sleeves either no matter how elegant it looks.

I can’t wear it either – except as a skirt or pants. When I was in the corporate world I had a wonderful pair of camel pants, with a beautiful drape. It looks so marvelous with a whole host of jewel tones – including emerald green (which I *can* wear)…and I love camel / khaki skirts with simple white and black tanks. A great canvas upon which to add many fun accessories. 🙂 Just a thought.

Love camel! And for some reason, it looks good on me even though my coloring (dark hair, blue-hazel eyes, medium skin tone) might suggest it would not.

However, today I am wearing a camel cardigan with an orange striped tee and matching spider headband (courtesy of a co-worker) so it’s possible my fashion sense is suspect.

Elegance requires one to employ a peon to walk behind you, ever so invisibly, whilst they gently hoist ones coat back upon one’s shoulders. 😉

I love the idea of a camel coat, but have found it hard to get the “right” camel. I want the coat that Jenna is wearing!

I just realized that I have been wearing my coat sleeves about 1.5-2 inches too long after seeing these models.

Camel is my favorite color to wear in a coat. I think it always looks chic AF.
