easter parade

  • So going to the Easter parade in New York has become kind of a hipster thing, apparently. (Racked NY)
  • A really rather engaging pop-cultural history of the Ugg boot. (Guardian)
  • My former coworker Rumaan Alam has written a perfectly lovely, so-smart piece about how he and his husband are trying to raise feminist boys in a household with no women. (Elle)
  • This David Sedaris piece about shopping in Tokyo is a riot. (New Yorker)
  • Ever-beautiful Jane Birkin, age 69, is the new face of YSL. (Telegraph)

Read that David Sedaris on a plane the other day..

One of the most important things a parent can do to raise feminist boys is teach them how to cook and clean and hold them accountable for doing these chores on a weekly basis.

I can’t tell you how many guys I’ve met (including my otherwise wonderful husband) who subconsciously view these things as women’s work and therefore would never take the initiative to do a single chore without prodding.

Small world: the woman in the photo accompanying this post is a classmate from my days at a small arts college. She’s always had style.
