  • A treasure trove of vintage pictures of New York City and its inhabitants, from Andy Warhol to a guy passed out on a car. (Kotte)
  • Priceless. (Vulture; mildly NSFW)
  • Oh, this modern world. (A.V. Club)
  • All of these images and footage of people across the world paying tribute to France are quite moving, but when the Army football team runs on field with the French flag, I just lose it. (Mental Floss)
  • And yet again more on the morning morning weep front. (Time)

I wandered all around NYC w/my first boyfriend in the mid 80s so the “vintage” pics (Janet Delaney) were moving. it doesnt seem so long ago.

The Japanese virtual artist touring the US reminds me of a French artist who won one of the French grammies a while back — Edith Progue: https://soundcloud.com/edithprogue She is actually the creation of Bernie Swell who created a duet between a computer crashing (edit prog, hence the name) and piano. It is really beautiful and haunting. I met him in Paris in 2008, and we and his family spent a fabulous rainy evening in their apartment overlooking the Seine listening to this spacey music.

I am alone in my house, eating cereal for lunch and working on some freelance stuff, no one to overhear it playing — and goddamn if I didn’t almost DIE of embarrassment watching that SNL video … I still might, actually. I am mostly dead of embarrassment right now. The gals of SNL are absolutely killing it these past couple of years!
