Reader, I bought it

Because of course I did.

Print of the week

Is it obnoxious for a forever-beginner-level yogi such as myself to show up to classes with a kind of flashy mat? Part of me thinks you have to do a pretty mean crow pose to make such a statement. But part of me doesn’t care—and that, of course, is the part I’m inclined to go with. Shopbop’s got a ton of really cool ones to choose from. Here’s option #1.

And here’s #2, which I like because it looks like a rug I might actually put in my home.

And from Anthro: this little slice of heaven, which is probably my favorite of all.

Wednesday links

  • Writers on places that inspire their work. (Flavorwire)
  • Probably some of you know that Lucky magazine closed shop yesterday, an event that has left me feeling more than a little nostalgic for the early days. Here’s an absolutely wonderful piece written by a former assistant of mine about what it was like to work there. It all but brought me to tears. (The Cut)
  • And here, if you’ve never seen it, is a trailer-length commercial we made after we first launched that still  manages to get a laugh out of me every time I watch it. (YouTube)
  • These old Life magazine summer covers are a kick. (Time)
  • Progress (Jezebel)

Yes, gingham

mango gingham

In straight-up black and white, gingham loses all of the usual prissypants associations it usually holds for me.  The print on these shorts  is just small enough to be acceptable to those who don’t like loud pants. And they have excellent slouch.

The black placket gives this shirt some edge.

DVF gingham

Love the interplay of large and small gingham on this cute shirtdress

Momentary obsession: woven leather

deux lux

Lately I’ve been craving a Bottega Veneta bag, but you can’t even begin to think about buying one for less than four figures. This hobo style from Deux Lux is a dead ringer for the real thing.

huarache becomes more than a just-for-hippie-girls proposition when it’s rendered in black.

Thursday trifecta

Screen Shot 2015-06-06 at 7.50.54 PM

The pineapple is a symbol of warmth and hospitality, but it’s also just so cute—almost cheeky—and right now rather ubiquitous. This necklace is almost too adorable.

I’d size up on this tank and wear it as a beach cover-up.

I have wanted pineapple notecards forever and this one is so damn elegant in the gold.
