Prints of the week: colorblock florals

kirna daisy top

I’d almost call this a trend, but back in magazine-land, we used to say that something only qualified as one if you could find at least three examples of it—so I guess what we have here is maybe better classified as a clever little coincidence. Of course I love the blue and black action on this daisy print blouse from Rykiel.

There are so many moving pieces here that this cotton button-down could almost come off as a novelty—but somehow doesn’t.

The crazy cutest

Sometimes when I see an item that makes no practical sense in my wardrobe—but is so positively loopy in its adorability that I feel it must be mine—simply posting about it turns out to be enough to scratch the itch. The jury’s still out on whether or not that’s going to work in the case of these fantabulous clog sandals from Sophia Webster.

At last, shirtwaist dresses

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 3.01.07 PM

I have never understood why more designers don’t make shirtwaist dresses more of the time: it’s such a winning silhouette—at once crisp and feminine—and one that’s almost universally flattering as well. Finally, this season they’re all over the place, and, I am loving how many have really standout prints. On the top of my I want I want listthis clever black and white number from MM6.

The crazy riot of color and pattern here is almost too much, but the careful, tailored cut keeps things in check.

A check print studded with stars: almost too much genius.

Top five of the day: basic blacks

Screen Shot 2015-04-24 at 7.42.47 AM

I will never understand why it is so hard to find a good black button-down. Everlane‘s gets all the details right.

vince boyfriend trousers

The just-right slouchy trousers will take you far.

organic tee

I wear this perfect three-quarter-sleeve tee even as I type.

A universally flattering A-line with just a touch of asymmetry for interest.

coach trench

A classic trench is perfectly chic, but one in black always strikes me as infinitely more so.
