Three quilty things

quilted sateen

I love the idea of this quilted sateen jacket under a heavier coat now, and on its own later.

This snappy duffel is under $100 and super-lightweight, and I totally bought one.

The notion of a cushy iPhone case appeals.

Back to the land of the living

of a kind rain jacket

I had forgotten how exhausting and isolating and more than anything just supremely boring being sick can be, and even though I can not say that I am feeling just 1000 percent just yet, I hate staying away from all of you for too long. I’ve started venturing out of the house for activities other than walking the dog again, and here is what I’ve noted out in the world: rain, and lots of it. So here are some cute pieces of water-resistant outerwear for your delectation. I am crazy for this jacket by Bridge and Burn—it’s got a striped lining on the sleeves and an even cuter one on the body that you can see if you click through.

The boxy fit and light weight of this J Crew jacket appeals.

A new Barbour obsession: the layered collar is rather fantastic.

Wicked splurgy but so sharp: this option from Canada Goose.

A nice, cheap chic option from Ann Taylor Loft.

It’s always something

As it turns out, my assessment the other day that I was coming down with either a cold or the flu was wildly optimistic: actually I have pneumonia, and a pretty impressive case of it. The doctor says I ought to be feeling a whole lot more like myself in a week, so that’s when I’ll resume posting on the regular. Until then, here is some delightfully loud spring outerwear, just for kicks. This long coat from Rodebejer is actually quite elegant for something with such a bold pattern, and the right length to wear with dresses, which so few coats are.

poncho that is both straightforwardly pretty and full-on crazypants—which is a pretty neat trick.

A bold print rendered on a very classic shape is always a winner in my book.

Like a Barbour jacket gone tropical.

Tuesday trifecta

citizens of humanity

Sorry about the lightness of posts over the past few days; I’m coming down with the cold/flu I was so smug about not contracting all winter, and it’s leaving me brain-clogged and weak as a wee kitten. I have managed to pull together this post on cute little denim skirts, though: all of these appeal because they are just a little bit unpredictable. I dig the clean, front-zipperless look of this one from Citizens of Humanity.

The A-line skirt is such a universally flattering silhouette that I can never figure out why more designers don’t exploit the shape more frequently. Here’s one from Acne Studios that’s very nearly perfect.

I was obsessed with finding a wrap skirt version and had no luck at all until Emerson Fry released the second part of their spring collection yesterday and I spotted this cute little number.
