Introducing Jolie/LAIDE—with a special offer

Screen Shot 2014-08-04 at 5.31.54 PM Here we have  my friend and former partner in crime Andrea Linett, modeling a bag from Jolie/LAIDE, the new mini-line she has just launched with her best friend Anne Johnston Albert. Cute, no? A favorite vintage army bag of Andrea’s served as inspiration: “It was so great and held so much, but I wished it were more urban,” she says.  “I wanted it to feel more polished, so I could wear it with nice clothes. And I love satin. It feels very French to us.” Of course I already own it, and to me it is the perfect choice for when lugging your laptop around all day is on the agenda: feather-light, and roomy without being bulky.

I have yet to get my hands on their very nifty tote, also quite utilitarian-chic and inspired by a Swedish army bag, but updated with lots of interior pockets.

They’ve also created the big slouchy tee of all big slouchy tees—if this is at all your thing, you’ll be wanting one—meant to be worn partially tucked in, and with sleeves rolled if you’re in the mood.

In an exciting development, Anne and Andrea have generously extended an exclusive 20% sitewide discount to Girls of a Certain Age readers. Just enter GOACA20 at checkout. And do not delay: the offer expires at midnight Wednesday.

Very cool — but can they explain what size 0 and 1 really mean for the shirt? A little baffling.

    • Andrea says:

Hi Kate! The tees are both slouchy. The 0 is just a bit smaller than the 1. I wear both sizes depending on how slouchy I want it.
      xx Andrea

Thanks, Andrea. I’ve been looking for a white tee, and this one looks like it fits the bill.

      • Kate says:

I’m wearing the white tee at work today. It is so comfortable, and for the other ladies thinking about it, this shirt is not translucent like so many are. Yay!

I have one of the bags that inspired that tote — it’s actually a helmet bag (for aviators). This inspires me to dig it out of the basement and use it for something.

I pretty much have the first bag – circa WW2 – its my grandfathers gas mask bag.

I love the satin; it does dress it up

Lovely. If only they shipped overseas!
