Would you?

Tribeca Mom did. And it actually totally worked on her, because if there’s anyone who can carry off a floral so crazy it almost makes your eyes hurt, it’s a WASP.

The fact that the rest of her outfit spoke very quietly helped. First up: this silky, drapey navy tee.

The earthy tone and casual slouch of these army green chinos helped balance all that drama up top.

Finally,  TM had on tassel loafers from Dieppa Restrepo, which of course looked completely nifty on her, and contributed nicely to the dressed-down mood of the ensemble. I could not in a million years—loafers make me feel like a stump and I’ve always thought I would try tassels never. Could you? And the jacket?

This one’s a toughie. I…might. In fact, I’m now flirting with the jacket. Especially since it’s on sale. The shoes are easy. No, no, no. But the jacket is haunting me a little. Especially as I’m considering the new white Birkenstocks (bought when your friend Andrea showed them a couple weeks ago…) in my closet. Hmmm…

Yes! I totally would. But it’s almost May in Texas so I am not buying any jackets right now…that’s just nuts.

LOVE those olive Current/Elliott twill pants. Must have. I like the jacket. Seems whenever a designer does a moto-style, he/she does a decent job with the style.

I considered that jacket. I just don’t think I would wear it even if I had it, but all power to anyone who can carry it off.

    I could never that off…ever.
    The pants and shirt sure..
The loafers and jacket with it..ha!
I would look like a slightly dumpy grandma…
    Just sayin.

  6. I would, except the shoes. I have short legs, so no bueno. Love the jacket and chinos.

I ADORE this outfit! I love the whole thing and would happily copy it if I could afford all of the pieces. The basic pieces are the perfect foil to the craziness of the jacket. I could also see the jacket over a LBD with some tougher heels.

I completely agree. I live in Portland, OR and it would work perfectly without being ‘hipster wanna-be’. Frankly, I don’t care if others viewed me as such, it’s one of the perks of being close to 48 years old.

This jacket would be mine if I could afford it. I’ll add it to my Wardrobe Fairy wishlist…

It’s supposed to hit 91 degrees in Austin this afternoon so even looking at the jacket (any jacket for that matter) makes me slightly ill.

However, temperature aside…The outfit does look very WASPish, Connecticutish and the very height of something a woman in the suburbs of Dallas might wear if they were feeling edgie. However, I truly do believe that your Tribecca Mom looked outstanding.

And I don’t like loafers. And I don’t like poly shirts. I DO like the chinos!

The pants are a yes, and I could make the shoes work. (Think black leather jacket, silky print top, and white ankle jeans). But that jacket is SO not me. Never.

It’s all a yes. I’m leery of chinos, but would try those.
I came back from Italy in the 80’s with shoes just like that & enjoyed that it messed with both the sorority girls’ & and the punk rock cool kids’ heads in my midwestern university town. I adore WASP grandmother shoes.

I was with you until I saw the shoes. No no no. Most men’s shoes are more attractive. And I *like* tassels. Just not those.

Oh yeah, I would totally wear that. But then I frequently wear Tribeca Mom-like outfits, since I also am a total WASP.

I am one Jewish girl who would totally wear that. I love loafers, always have.

      Ditto to Shari.
I am one brown girl who would totally wear that. I love floral print, especially as a dress, skirt or skinny jeans!
In fact, I’m living in my Liberty floral jeans this summer.

I thought the print was a tiny bit Libertyesque too. It doesn’t look crazy to me at all. (I hope this won’t get us in trouble…)

If you can pull off that jacket, I’m jealous. Its super cute but I fear it will ramp up the old lady vibe that I am fighting off tooth and nail. Wear it!

I would do it all but the shoes. I’d wear Converse.

Why yes, now that you ask, yes I would;).

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. No. Nope. Nope nope nope. I’m a former new wave kid and I wear black and grey and I’m short and stumpy and I would look about a million years old in that jacket and like I was off to my regular Tuesday afternoon bingo four at the senior centre. Floral prints and me are like THAT, and by THAT I mean standing on opposite sides of a room glaring at each other resentfully.

I thought, maybe, the only thing I might wear is the loafers, with something androgynous (and black or grey) but looking at them again I don’t think so. I think I prefer a flat Oxford type shoe.

    Love, love, love it all!
If you are looking for a lower price point on the tee, Alternative clothing (carried at Macy’s & Macy’s.com) has a very similar style priced at $28.00. You just might want to go up a size…
I cannot keep them is my closet because my three teenages keep stealing them.
Macy’s is having their Friends & Family sale starting 4/30 so the price will be even better!
