Is an animal print. I’m particularly fond of this clever little birdie top from Hope.
…as well as these sly little foxes from Tory Burch.
This Tibi top takes the look in a rather grown-up, sophisticated direction.
…while this puppy-print number absolutely does not.
Isn’t it cool how the leaping rabbits on this cardigan almost create a houndstooth-like print?
Sophia Costas makes a whole bunch of animal print scarves—everything from polar bears to hedgehogs to panthers. But I think the llama‘s my favorite.

So can a gal just about to hit 40 pull this off ? I love the owl intarsia sweater by Burberry Prorsum and wondered if I could wear something similar without looking like I raided a tween girl’s closet. An inquiring mind would like to know.

Absolutely! (says a 43-year-old)
Several of these prints look almost abstract. The pieces I’m steering clear are those with a large figure on them, like J.Crew’s French Hen.

I agree with Raina. These prints are subtle and grown up. Teens prefer the big-ass animal prints, preferably with some sort of logo on it. I love all of these prints.

Photo #1 is in desperate need of a tailor’s touch.

Agreed! I was wondering what was up with that shirt. The saggy front trousers don’t help either.

I bought Erin Fetherston’s bunny dress when it was re-released by Target last year and I get so many compliments on it. I’m not a cutesy person by any stretch but the print made me see how it’s sometimes nice to be whimsical. I’d wear most of these – I’m into a bird-print dress at Old Navy right now too.
